Interview with Textile Artist Audrey Augun
Audrey Augun is an art quilter and fiber artist whose work explores issues concerning the Earth’s well-being. Her subjects range from the ecological challenges faced by the planet’s inhabitants to the joy and comfort that different species bring to the world, and one another. Audrey believes that, as the dominant species on the planet, humans have a responsibility to ensure the future of all forms of life, both on land and in our oceans.
Audrey seeks to push the boundaries of the art form to express her admiration for the natural world. Her work now incorporates not only fabric and thread, but also paint, gesso, ink, and stencils. Often, inspiration comes to her from the written word or music.
Audrey participated in the 2025 Under the Sea Virtual Exhibition. The panel of judges chose her art piece “Now we are Ghosts” as the best piece that represented the category “A Call to Action.”
